UKM Unibiodiversity 1/2020
I am now eager to learn about the identity of this robber fly (Asilidae) – (currently waiting for a book ordered from Amazon for my birthday!) I went for a hiking around UKM-MPOB estate with my son, Malik, during Chinese New Year. It was not difficult to notice robber flies around this area as they usually perch on broken twigs looking for foods. But this one caught my attention. With robust hairs on femur and tibia, it flew slowly like a wasp instead of typical darting robber fly.
Another one was a pair of long-legged flies (?Dolichopodidae). From my experience this fly group was quite sensitive against flash light. So this was the best attempt so far to document a pair of long-legged flies mating at natural environment.
