Lalat kaki bajang
The Micropezidae a.k.a stilt-legged flies.
In Bahasa Malaysia, it can be known as “Lalat Kaki Bajang”, which means, ah, you can just observe it from the circus performers below – because of the long legs!
Little is understood about this acalyptrate fly but the larvae are possibly saprophagous by feeding on decayed vegetation. The adults are also not uncommon to be seen on animal carcasses and excrement. As they were observed by Malik and I during mating, the female raised its front legs several times and both of them dragged backward. They managed to fly approximately 1.5m from one shrub to another while in copulatory position.
